The utilities that are available in Mac OS can be used for a wide variety of purposes. If you would like to see the full list of utilities that can be offered, you simply need to check the Utility folder that can be found in the Applications folder on your Mac. All of the utilities can be displayed there, and you can just choose which ones you will need.
You can also search for utilities by accessing the finder button and typing in utilities. There are also times when you need to access the utility folder because you need to recover data from your Mac. You can clean your Mac OS when you wipe out all of the data from the utility folder.
The Utilities menu when booted from the Mac OS X Install DVD includes Startup Disk, Reset Password, Firmware Password Utility, Disk Utility, Terminal, System Profiler, Network Utility, and Restore System From Backup.
