There are some people who are not too comfortable with the use of the IV. They believe that they do not need it. In fact, there are some people who remove it even when they are not allowed to do so. A nurse should always inform the person that an IV line will be connected in order to make the patient prepare for the discomfort that the IV line would bring.
It is best that the nurse can learn a lot about the patient in order to know what should be done next. There may be other things that the nurse has to do once the IV line has already been started.
