Children's Day is an international day, celebrated all over the world. The date of the celebration, each year, will vary depending on the country it is being celebrated in. The purpose of this Day is to celebrate children. Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard is credited for coming up with this Day in 1857.
Pastor of Universalist Church of the Redeemer, he created a Rose Day, dedicated to the children of the church. It was then renamed Flower Sunday and then became the name we have today, Children's Day. Other countries began celebrating the Day for different reasons. For example, in India, the Day is a tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru, who loved children.
