The battle of Midway was the first major victory for American forces against the Imperial Japanese forces in the Pacific theatre of war. The battle of Midway took place in June1942 in which the American naval and air forces inflicted a major blow to imperial navy and air forces of Japan and destroyed all 4 Japanese aircraft carriers and were able to break the naval code of imperial navy(Japanese) which proved to be decisive in the future course of the war.
I also believe the Japanese losses at the Coral Sea meant they had two carriers less to take with them to Midway. Depends what you mean by significant.
Coral Sea was a tactical victory for the Americans. It was several months earlier than Midway and prevented the Japanese from making the North Coast of Australia untenable for the allies denying the Japanese a base from which it could launch air attacks. While Midway was a substantial victory for the American navy, the victory at Coral Sea ended the myth of Japanese invincibility.
Midway was up to that point the most decisive victory for the U.S. in the war. The Japanese lost four aircraft careers and never again could regain the initiative.
