Even though it may seem simple to cook a sweet potato, there are ways to mess up cooking a sweet potato and there are ways to make the sweet potato taste better. First leave the sweet potato by itself. Don’t put tin foil around it. Always take a fork and stick it into the sweet potato. The sweet potatoes should be placed into the oven by themselves. There is no need for a pan or baking sheet with the sweet potato.
Since there are two racks, the sweet potato should be placed on the top rack and the baking sheet should be placed underneath the sweet potato on the lower rack. After cooking the sweet potato, leave it in the oven and the heat will keep it moist.
