The metric system is a measurement system that is used in almost all parts of the world. There are several steps that can be drawn to determine how many meters are in a kilometer or in any other type of measurement. There are the main meters including kilometer, hectometer, decameter, meter, decimeter, centimeter and millimeter. Then there are others that are very small and very large.
The very large measurements are exameter and petameter. There are small quantities too like micrometer and nanometer. In one centimeter, there are ten millimeters. Then there are ten centimeters in one decimeter. In the metric system, each step increases by ten. So, there are ten decimeters in one meter and ten meters in one decameter.
