The type of traffic that is designed for a native VLAN is the untagged traffic. A native VLAN is known to carry the untagged traffic. This traffic is a kind of traffic which its source is not from a VLAN. A data VLAN is generally recognized to carry user generated traffic.
In the case of a management traffic, this is being carried by a management VLAN. In few cases, a tagged port would receive an untagged frame. In order to be able to handle this, there is a special VLAN configured on tagged ports, which is referred to as the native VLAN.
Any untagged frame arriving on a tagged port is being attached to the native VLAN by the switch. If a frame that is the native VLAN gets to leave a tagged or trunk port, the VLAN tag would be stripped out by the switch. Thus, in carrying untagged traffic through one or more switches, you can use the native VLAN.
