When a person is suffering from constipation, then this person may receive an enema. In many cases, patients are required to get enemas due to certain injuries and problems. However, the patient will need to be positioned in order for the nurse to administer the enema. This all depends on the ailment and injuries of the patient.

Sometimes, the person’s arms or another limb may be injured, and the nurse may not want the patient to put all of his or her weight onto that limb. So, there are several ways that the patient may lay in order for the nurse to appropriately administer the enema. They may lay on their right side, leftside, or pull their knees to their chest. They can also lay on their back.
