Child abuse happens everywhere. Many people think that children are only abused behind closed doors, but some abusers think they can do whatever they want. Other times, abusers think that they are alone or they have no control over themselves and hit their children. It is very difficult to determine abuse. Spankings are common punishments for children, but excessive spanking or harsh spankings could be considered abuse. There is not a definite definition of abuse.
However, babies and disabled children should not be physically punished. If a nurse sees a mother slapping her infant, then she should notify the right department and take the baby back to the nursery. Then inform the other workers in the unit about what had happened so they will watch out for any other behavior.
