Labor Day is an American holiday that is celebrated on the first Monday in September. Unofficially many people consider it to be the marker for the end of summer. Often Labor Day weekend is the time when many public pools close down for the season. Officially it honors the American Labor Movement and the contributions that working Americans have made to the strength and prosperity of the country.
Many people treat the holiday and the weekend before it as one last chance to do summer activites with family and friends before the onset of fall and winter. People typically have cook outs or other celebrations fro the holiday.
