The correct answer to this question is Shivering. It is also known as shaking. The body performs this action when it is cold. It occurs in warm-blooded animals, like mammals. When the temperature in the body drops, it responds by shivering. This response is to maintain homeostasis.

The movements are small and help create warmth by using energy. As the movements increase, so does the energy and warmth. Sometimes, shivering can be the first sign of an illness like a fever or pneumonia. When a shiver is severed and violent, it is known as a rigor. The hypothalamus is the main home to where shivering motors.
