Deacons are titles for religious officials in the Christian Church. There are many other religious officials in the church, including Bishops and Priest. Deacons come after these people. To become a Deacon, the person must become ordained by the church.
Once they are ordained, the Deacon agrees to serve, as that is their purpose. The word itself means that, as it comes from the Greek language. In Acts Chapter 6, Verses 1 through 6, the Bible clearly states their purpose as it describes the servants meeting the widow's needs. Each Deacon has its own ministry, which they serve, which can be ministries like women's or children's.
A deacon is a title for a religious official. In the Chuch, Deacons come after Bishops and Priest, and the Church ordains them. When they are appointed, their purpose is to serve. The word deacon derives from the Greek language and means servant.
The Bible lays out their job in Acts Chapter 6, Verses 1 through 6. Here the servants serve the needs of the widows. Every deacon has a ministry that they serve; Deacons can do many things like priests, including presiding over weddings and baptisms. Unlike a priest, a deacon is not able to hear confessions or celebrate Mass.
