Fast food restaurants haven’t always been around. If you were to talk to some baby boomers, they would tell you that these places didn’t exist. Only a few sit-down restaurants existed during their childhood and it was a treat to go there for a meal. Most families ate at home for almost every meal.
Then in the 1950s and 60s, many popular restaurant chains began to open. They didn’t necessarily start a fast food craze then. Over the next few decades when women and men were working and there were fewer and fewer housewives, fast food became popular. Also, they catered to kids and teenagers and people felt that they could easily pick up dinner without even having to get out of their car.
