One way to cook butternut squash is to peel the skin off of the butternut squash. Then cut the squash open and pull out the seeds. Slice the squash into the desirable pieces. Place the squash on a baking sheet and begin to preheat the oven. Sometimes, people will marinade the squash overnight or for a period of time in the marinade. Many people will then season the squash with salt, pepper, butter or brown sugar depending on the taste you are wanting.
Covering the sheet with aluminum foil will allow the squash to retain the flavors and moisture to remain tender. Then place the pan of squash in the oven for thirty to forty minutes. You will want to test the squash to make sure it is cooked before taking it out of the oven.
