The person who gave him the nickname “Bruno” was his father because he resembled Bruno Sammartino. He first signed with Motown Records in 2004 but was eventually dropped sometime in 2005.

He then went on to land a music publishing deal with Steve Lindsey and Cameron Strang before he signed with Atlantic Records in 2006. He released his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans on October 05, 2010 which was followed with Unorthodox Jukebox on December 10, 2012, and then 24K Magic on November 18, 2016.
