Cultural pluralism is an expression used when smaller groups contained in a larger society keep their unique cultural specification, and their values and practices are accepted by the broader culture provided when they are uniform with the laws and values of a wider society. Cultural pluralism is distinct from multiculturalism.
It is where cultures can still maintain their unique qualities and combine to form a larger richer whole. It is an ideology, and a movement was developed, propagated, and embraced by individuals and organizations identified with the left.
Pluralism speaks to society, a system of government, or society that has different groups that maintain their identities while co-existing with other groups or a more dominant group. Pluralism acknowledges a more significant number of competing interest groups that share power. It serves as a model for democracy where all different groups have a voice.
