There is no specific reason or explanation of why people dream. It is still one of the many things that amaze people since time immemorial. Although there are no explanations why we dream, some people still like to speculate why we dream about the images and stories that our mind creates while we are sleeping. Some dreams are vivid, while others vague that we can’t even remember it the moment we wake up.

Some studies suggest that the reason why we dream is that of the following reasons: Anxiety, depression, and increased tension in the brain activity. Nobody will know for sure why exactly we dream, but we can all agree that dreams are quite entertaining when we think about it.

Sleep is required in order to rejuvenate the body. During our time of sleep, many people have dreams. However, there is no definite answer to the question about why people dream during their sleeping periods. Studies have been conducted to determine when people dream. This is the process of turning the short term memory items into the long term. When this is happening in someone’s mind, they may be experiencing dreams. Another theory includes emotional regulation. When people get emotional or stressed, they may relieve this stress through dream. Finally, the final theory includes threat simulation. When the mind is stimulated through its behavior, dreams may occur at night.

There are still not enough reasons that people may be able to give as to why we dream. There are some people who say that we dream because we need to remember the things that have occurred. This will allow you to store important memories that we will remember for a long time.

Scientists do not yet have an answer for why we dream. In fact, scientists can’t even agree yet on whether they think dreaming has a purpose or if it’s just a result of other biological processes that happen during sleep. One theory about why we dream is that dreams help convert memory storage from short-term to long-term.

Others suggest the brain is just reacting to biological changes and electrical impulses, it is trying to prepare itself to face insecurities and vulnerabilities, or it is reflecting on waking life experiences to help us achieve emotional and psychological balance. Lastly, my favorite theory, dreaming is a form of consciousness that unites past and present to prepare us for the future. Just seems kind of far out to me.

There is no specific reason why we dream. Dreams are hallucinations that occur during a certain stage of sleep. Dreams include images, thoughts, and emotions that are experienced during sleep. A dream can be boring, confusing, sad, joyful, frightening, vague, fun, disturbing, romantic entertaining and so on.

Some studies have shown a few reasons why we dream which include fear, depression, anxiety, and also increased tension of the brain. Some theories also believe that we dream so that the body gets entertained because it gets boring when you are asleep.

Here is some other belief about why we dream

1. Working as a form of psychotherapy.
2. Consolidating and processing the information gathered during the day.
3. It also represents our desires and wishes we are not aware of.

Finally, there has been no specific reason why we dream there are just different believes and theories.

The truth is there is no perfect answer for this. Even researchers have not been able to get concrete answers about why we dream. It is amazing how things that occurred during the day are being replayed when we sleep. Most of the time, we only remember a little part of things that occurred in our dreams. Many scientists opined that dreams are just products of things that happened during the day. When you sleep, your brain doesn't sleep, and your subconscious mind begins to work.

At this period, the brain is recording major events that occurred during the day and discards things that did not stick to the mind during the day. That's why you are able to remember some things that happened yesterday, while you find it difficult to remember some. Also, dreams can be regarded as the product of things that are locked up in our memories. That is why you can still dream about someone who died 20 years ago.

This question is common in the minds of many people. The dream is part of our sleep. Sleep is necessary for our body to rejuvenate. However, there is no particular answer to why we dream. Scientists make us understand that dream is part of the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of our sleep cycle. It is believed that the brainstem controls REM sleep, and our forebrain generates dream.

This is why people with forebrain damage do not dream though they go into REM sleep. Studies also suggest that our dreams are made from our thoughts, imaginations, memories, and wishes. Debates and studies are still ongoing to reveal more on why we dream. Hope this answer might clear your confusion to some extent.
