One way is to take the amount and divide it by the total amount. When you do this, you will have a decimal number. Then multiply the decimal number by 100.
That is the percentage. For example, if you are a student. You received your test back from the teacher. There were 150 questions on the test. You miss 35 of the questions. What is the percentage of the questions you missed. If you calculate 35 divided by 150, the answer is 0.23333. So, you missed a little over 23% of the questions.
