Carol Shields wrote the book “The Stone Diaries”. The book is a diary-type of book. It’s written as if it is the personal journal of a woman named Daisy Goodwill Flett. The book chronicles her life, which has a very distinctive touch of death. Every turn of her life has been touched by a death of some kind, It starts with her mother dying in childbirth, and ends with Daisy’s own death many years later.
The book itself is actually an interesting case when it comes to awards it has won. Shields was born in the United States of America, but moved to Canada and had become a naturalized citizen of Canada. So, it is one of the few books to win awards in America and Canada that only natural born citizens or naturalized citizens can win.
