“The Pearl” was written by John Steinbeck. Steinbeck wrote the book about a pearl diver named Kino. The book is one about man’s greed, and about what man will do to get what they want. In particular, this book was based on a family that Steinbeck had met. This book talks about Kino and his family, to start off.
The trouble with the pearl begins when Kino’s son gets stung by a scorpion. Despite the fact that Kino had killed the scorpion, his son was in danger. Since he couldn’t pay the doctors, his son wasn’t treated right away. So, he took him to the beach, and tried to treat him as best as he could. Then, in a desperate attempt to find some money, Kino went pearl diving. That’s when their trouble began.
