William Faulkner wrote this book. “The Sound and the Fury” is about a man named Benjamin “Benjy” Compson. He is considered to be a disgrace to his family, so the novel heavily centers on that kind of a relationship in the family. However, there are a couple of people that do show care for him. They are his older sister, and a matriarchal servant named Dilsey. Caddy, his sister, is soon divorced and the book focuses often on Caddy and his association of her with trees because they were forced to play outside during a funeral.
“The Sound and the Fury” was a novel that wasn’t too successful at the beginning, when it was published. After he wrote his sixth book, “Sanctuary”, “The Sound and the Fury” became more popular.
