Since there are no choices, I’ll take a best guess. There is no good description of this in any of the pillars of photography, but it can be said to be the “impact on the market” pillar. These kind of pictures are seen everywhere online; photo manipulation is not unheard of. Many of the photos we see in magazines - especially those targeted at young girls and women - have been digitally altered after they have been taken.
The reason this is so popular is because it sells us an impossible dream; something that we want to live up to is shown, but there is literally no way we can ever get up to that standard. Certainly drives up sales for products.
