As of 2017, the company that makes the most paint around the world is PPG Paint. It’s a subsidiary of PPG Industries. They’ve announced their pick for 2018 color of the year: black flame. It’s a dark color, a shade of black. (Yes, black has shades and tints like any other color. It’s just harder to define what constitutes a shade or tint of black because too much white makes it grey.)
There are indigo undertones to the color, and so it’s more a purple-blue-black color than anything else - like blackberries. PPG also has a room painter online; you upload a picture of the room you want to paint and mess around online before buying the paint to try it out in real life.
