Of course, you can still eat Mexican food even if you are on a diet. Although it is understandable to automatically think about fatty Mexican dishes such as crispy tostada chips, sopaipillas, refried beans and enchiladas with cheese when you hear Mexican food, this is not always the case.
You always have the option to choose what kind of ingredient goes into your dish – that is, if you are on a diet, then you can choose any of the following: 1) Guacamole – although avocados are high in fat, it is still good for your heart, 2) Bean burrito – skip the refried beans and ask for whole beans because the latter contains fiber which helps lower your cholesterol levels, and 3) Soft tacos – not all tacos are filled with fat. Soft tacos contain 100 calories less than the normal tacos in a Mexican restaurant.
