Born Herbert Vollrath Kohler Jr. on February 20, 1939, he is best known as the chairman of the Kohler Company, a manufacturing company founded by John Michael Kohler in 1873, from 1972 up to the present. He started working for the company in 1965 after he graduated from Yale University and worked as a laborer and technician in almost all the divisions of the company until 1972 when he was chosen as the chairman of the board and the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company at the age of 33.
