Born Herbert Paul Brooks Jr. on August 05, 1937 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he is best known as Herb Brooks, one of the members of the National Hockey League from 1981 to 1985. He began his career as a hockey player when he was still in school wherein he trained and soon became part of the 1960 Olympics. He then became a head coach of the US hockey team in which they won gold during the 1980 Winter Olympics which was held from February 13 to 24, 1980.
He died when he was 66 years old on August 11, 2003 in a single-car accident. No drugs or alcohol was found in the scene that is why it was believed that he must have fallen asleep while he was driving. He was buried in Roselawn Cemetery Roseville, Ramsey County, Minnesota.
