Herb Alpert was born on March 31, 1935 in Los Angeles, California. He was best known as an American jazz musician and was associated with several acts such as: The Tijuana Brass, The Baja Marimba Band, Los Norte Americanos, The Mexicali Brass, Black Sombrero Brass, Al Tijuana & His Jewish Brass, Sotelum & The Minarete Brass Orchestra, George Garabedian, and Richard Davis & The Tequila Brass.
It was in 1979 when he recorded Rise which became successful and even landed him a Grammy Award. Although he was already 82 years old as of this writing, he is still an active musician. He even won another Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album last January 26, 2014 for his album entitled Steppin’ Out.
