Born Timothy Alexander on April 10, 1965 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, he was best known as Herb, the drummer for the rock band Primus which was formed in 1984. Herb was not part of the original members of Primus, with Les Claypool being the only original member of the band. He was recruited sometime between 1987 and 1988 together with Larry “Ler” Lalonde and they performed together until 1996 when Herb finally left the band.
There were several sources claiming that the reason for Herb’s departure was due to creative differences. Les Claypool even said that they “all want to take the music in different directions. Unfortunately for Tim [Herb], Larry and I tend to want similar things creatively.”
