At a time in Ireland’s history in the 17th century during the English conquest a lot of people in Ireland were so poor that they could not afford anything but potatoes. By the 21st century many Irish dishes from the past were being revived these dishes include Irish stew, Shepherd’s pie, bacon and cabbage, boxty, coddle, and colcannon which consists of mashed potatoes, kale or cabbage and butter.
