For the average citizen, living in Egypt is much cheaper when it comes to food and drink. In America, you can pay around $2.50 for a loaf of white bread. In Egypt, that same loaf of bread is about $0.40. That’s about three times less expensive than bread in America. A small bottle of water averages $0.16 in Egypt, and a small soda or soft drink averages about $0.25. In America, those same bottles are $1, and $1.50, respectively.
Maybe the fact that we get them cold in America has something to do with it? However, this isn’t the only place that Egypt has us beat. They are, pound for pound, cheaper on the produce too.
