More often than not, food and drinks cost less in Vietnam than they do in America. By American standards, a bottle of water is about $1. That’s for a smaller bottle. In Vietnam, that same smaller bottle can run about $0.19. That’s less than half the cost of what it is in America. However, there are a few things that the difference isn’t quite as pronounced. Most produce in America runs between $0.50 to $1 a pound when in season.

In Vietnam, it runs about $0.20 to $0.40 a pound when in season. It may seem just as pronounced, and it is over time, but at first glance, not so much. Be careful how you plan your food in Vietnam; while it might be cheap to eat out, it’s often healthier to cook your own food.
