The most popular food of all time would have to be alcoholic beverages. These drinks came around in the medieval times in Europe because the water was so polluted that it was actually safer for one’s health to drink alcohol. It helped to purify what was in the brew because the yeast would kill off any kind of bacteria with their CO2 emissions. Today, they are still drunk all over the world. Germany is one of the world’s biggest producers and consumers of alcoholic beverages.
Out of all the alcoholic beverages we know today, beer is probably most like the ale they had in the medieval times. It was thicker, and had a more wheat-like texture to it than most wines today do.
