Shark Week is a television program which runs for one whole week at the Discovery Channel. It is created by Tom Golden and mainly features sharks. It started airing on July 17, 1988 with the first episode entitled Caged in Fear. The next Shark Week was shown in 1989, then 1990, and so on and so forth. Nobody hosted Shark Week from 1998 to 1993, but Peter Benchley became the host in 1994. There were no hosts again from 1995 to 1999 until Nigel Marven signed to host the show from 2000 to 2002.
Other hosts include the American Chopper cast in 2004, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman in 2005, Mike Rowe in 2006, Les Stroud in 2007 and 2009, Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and Mike Rowe in 2008, Craig Ferguson in 2010, Andy Samberg in 2011, Philip DeFranco in 2012, Josh Wolf in 2013 to 2014 and Eli Roth from 2015 up to the present.
