Buccinator- the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve (v3) is transmitted through foramen ovale. branches from this nerve innervate the muscles of mastication, like temporalis and masseter. a branch from v3 also innervates tensor tympani, which is a muscle that dampens the vibrations of the tympanic membrane. mylohyoid is innervated by a branch of the inferior alveolar nerve which is also from v3-this muscle elevates the hyoid bone and the tongue and depresses the mandible.
buccinator is a muscle on the side of the cheek which is innervated by the facial nerve (vii). this muscle, which pulls the corner of mouth laterally and presses the cheek against the teeth, would still be functional even after disrupting the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve.
