Glossopharyngeal nerve-the glossopharyngeal nerve supplies sensory innervation to the mucosa of the upper pharynx, whereas the vagus nerve supplies sensory innervation to the lower pharynx and larynx. the maxillary nerve supplies sensory innervation to the face below the level of the
eye and above the level of the upper lip and the palate and nasal mucosa. the superior cervical ganglion contributes to a formation of the pharyngeal plexus but contains no afferent fibers. the external laryngeal nerve innervates the cricothyroid and inferior pharyngeal constrictor muscles.
