Chocolate chips are the main ingredient in chocolate chip cookies. These chips are small pieces of sweet chocolate. They are shaped like a teardrop. Most of the chocolate chips are less than a half inch, but some are smaller than that. Using the chocolate ingredients, the manufacturers drop the chocolate onto a smooth surface.

That is how the chip gets its look. Then it dries. If the chocolate chips are stored in warm temperatures, they will melt. Many people will melt these chips to make candies and fudge. Chocolate chips are used many desserts including granola bars, ice cream, hot chocolate and muffins. They are easy to spot in a cookie or cake because they have a distinct brown circular appearance.
