The researcher measured the corneal curvature and what they saw was that the pts who were randomized to the rgp group, the curvature was flatter, but when they look at the axial length changes, what they see is they're essentially the same between the 2 groups. So the question is, after these patients stop wearing the rgps, is the myopia going to come back and will you get the rebound effect like with atropine? So it looks like the treatment benefit is due to the corneal flattening and that its probably temporary.
So based on the results, the study actually doesn't recommend the doctor prescribing rgps as myopia progression control. Maybe try ortho k.
