The generic name for Zanaflex is TIZANIDINE. Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxant. It is mostly used for pain sensation, muscle spasms, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and other neurological disorders.

TIzanidine belongs to a class of drugs known as Central Alpha-2-Adrenergic Agonist. It works by blocking nerve impulses.

The common side effects of Tizanidine include drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, lightheadedness, tiredness, dizziness, bradycardia, low blood pressure, urinary frequency, uncontrolled muscle movements, vomiting, abnormal liver function tests, and fatigue.

The generic name for Zanaflex is tizanidine. Tizanidine is a short acting muscle relaxant. It is commonly used to treat muscle spasticity caused by certain medical conditions such as injury the spinal cord and multiple sclerosis. Zanaflex is usually taken by mouth (orally) as directed by health care giver. This is usually every 6 to 8 hour interval. The most common side effects related to the use of Zanaflex include:

drowsiness, light headedness, dry mouth, constipation, weakness, and tiredness. Low blood pressure, blurred vision, hallucination psychosis, liver problem, allergic reaction and irregular heart beat are severe side effects that can occur with the use of Zanaflex, however, these side effects are rare.
