The United States Declaration of Independence starts with the line, When in the course of human events… This document was approved on July 4th, 1776, by the Continental Congress. It states that 13 North American British colonies are separating from Great Britain.
It was on July 2nd when the separation was officially voted on, but since it, on the 4th of July it was announced, the United States has been celebrating this as their national holiday or their Independence Day. This document is essential to Americans as it states that every person in the United States has the right to live, to have liberty, and to pursue their happiness and how the government listens to the people.
