Chiggers are small insects that live in forests and grasslands. Chiggers like to live in tall grasses, vegetation, orchards, and even in lower vegetated areas such as lawns, parks, and gold courses. Chiggers are commonly found on mammals and amphibians, so keeping these animals away from the property will decrease the chances of finding chiggers in the lawn.
Many preventative measures can be taken to reduce the chance of chiggers, such as mowing the lawn regularly and spray insecticides, but not all are guaranteed. Rubbing alcohol has not been proven to kill chiggers, but is a home remedy to help alleviate the itch of chigger bites.
