A sangria is an alcoholic drink that originated in Spain and Portugal. A sangria is a punch that is made up of red wine and a chopped fruit, also combined with other ingredients such as brandy or orange juice. There isn’t much known about the history of the sangria, but it is known that the early version s were popular in Portugal, Spain, Greece and England.
The predecessor to the sangria, the sangaree, was served either hot or cold but was eventually introduced to the Americas in the twentieth century and soon became served only as an old drink beginning in the late 1940’s.
