The discovery of jugs from the Stone Age suggests that intentionally fermented beverages has existed since as early as 10,000 BC. In one study, the chemical analysis of a residue had confirmed that a drink made from fermented grapes, honey, rice, and hawthorne berries was produced between 7000-6650 BC meaning that humans have been consuming alcohol for tens of thousands of years.
The earliest solid evidence that has been found of wine production dates all the way back to 5400 BC and occurred in Iran. It is unknown exactly when the “invention” of alcohol began, but alcohol has continued to develop throughout the thousands of years that it has been around.
