Vitamin D is key to the body for bone development, immune functioning, absorption of calcium and alleviation of inflammation. For vitamin D to be absorbed into the blood stream, it must have fats paired with it since it is oil soluble.
Vitamin D can be either taken in through foods or by supplements, but can also be created when you expose your skin to the sun. When you are in the sunlight, your body absorbs the rays from the sun and creates vitamin D. Orange juice is well known for its high levels of vitamin D, as well as other foods such as milk.
