The effect of food on our brains can be either positive or negative. With a healthy diet, brain function greatly improves compared to the level of function when not partaking in a healthy regimen. For example, when nutmeg is consumed in large amounts, it has the same affect the drug ecstasy, but a sprinkle on top of your pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving will not have any affect. A lack of sugar or water-soluble vitamins for a few days will cause your brain function to decrease drastically.
