How did the lady in the following passage know her husband was dead?

There is a lady coming home from work and gets stuck alone in an elevator because the power goes of. 12 mins later the power comes back on and she knows her husband is dad without knowing prior to the elevator. She does not own a cell phone and there is no emergency phone in the elevator nor is there an intercom.

She sent an assassin after him before entering the elevator; she assumed he was dead by that time but wasn't 100% sure, however, she did also add a time he should be killed, or she simply knows the assassin was on the job the moment she called him 1/2 hours before entering the elevator.
