The series is written by DJ MacHale and follows the adventures of Bobby Pendragon as he travels to a place called Denduron. The main antagonist in this book is Saint Dane. Saint Dane is an evil traveler that is capable of shapeshifting.
He wishes to bring chaos to the land and rebuild it for himself and his own evil purpose. Saint Dane has used his powers to escape death and manipulate the people of Hella as well as draining Solara of its power. He is both extremely cruel and cunning.
