In the book Deaf Child Crossing the main character Megan has a dog named Apples. This book was written by children's author Marlee Matlin and is about a young girl named Megan that is deaf. Although Apples is Megan's dog we never really get to see the relationship between the two until the very end of the book.
Apples is not the perfect dog for a young child as he is old, toothless and has really bad breath but he is also a really sweet dog and loving toward Megan. In a way even though Apples is not youthful and full of energy to play he is the perfect dog.
