Why is it that even though Spiderman caught Gwen Sacy before she HIT the water, she still died?

Even though spidey did catch her, the shock and the stop killed her. he didnt know that shed be dead before she hit the water. when he caught her, the force was so great that it broke her back or neck. that killed her instantly.there was no way she could survive that fall. even if she didnt hit the water or get cought by spiderman, the fall couldve put her into a lot of shock. it could also make it hard for her to breath. the breath would be ripped from her lungs.there was a way spidey couldve saved her. he couldve jumped off and grabbed her. the he would have to shoot a web at a pole and swing back up. then she would be saved.
