Edgar made $15 from his poem, The Raven. This happened in the 1840s, and around that time, $15 would be equivalent to several hundred bucks in today's time. Hence, it is safe to say that Edgar got a good share for this piece of poetry. However, the fame that he got from that poem was unmatchable and was worth far more than the money that he had earned from it.
In the meantime, The American Review paid him $9 for his work. Even though it got first sold off to The American Review, it was first published in Evening Mirror. Edgar Poe is regarded as one of the most influential story writers of all time in the US.
