Hans Christian Andersen. He was born on April 02, 1805 in Odense, Funen, Kingdom of Denmark-Norway, and he was best known for his fairy tales such as The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Snow Queen, The Nightingale, Thumbelina, The Ugly Duckling, and of course, The Little Mermaid.
The Little Mermaid was published on April 07, 1837 by C. A. Reitzel which covered the story of a young mermaid who wanted to gain a human soul that she was fine with giving up with her life under the sea. The ending to the novel was entirely different to the 1989 Disney animated film because in the novel, the Little Mermaid eventually dissolved into foam and became a daughter of the air.
